Come along for a day and try it! Fun Days are designed to introduce you to the sport of paragliding by providing hands-on experience with glider control, launch and landing techniques. The course, begins with ground school featuring videos and lecture on the sport of Paragliding and Powered paragliding. We then learning to launch on the flat ground, followed by up to some flight time on our 120' grassy hill. Most students complete several flights on their first day! If you decide that paragliding is for you, this day will count as the first day of the P1/P2 or Motor courses.
Day 1 of the P1 course is the same as the Fun Day. On Day 2, we will concentrate on unassisted launches, alternate launch techniques, and digest additional theory to prepare you for the USHGA P1 Beginner written exam. With the 2-day PARA-1 course a student will learn the basics of paragliding in class and on the hill. Upon completion of the course and a written test, a student may be awarded a P1 Beginner USHGA rating.
This course will teach the skills and information necessary for the USHGA PARA-2 Novice rating. A P1 rating is required to begin this course, however these two courses can be combined. Upon demonstration of glider control, launch and landing techniques, we will progress to towing to safe altitudes and foot launching from 120' -400' AGL hills. We will cover spot landings, turns, emergency procedures, ridge soaring and the basics of thermalling Students have radio contact with instructors as needed. Ground school and theory necessary for the safety of the pilot and the completion of the P2 written exam is included. A minimum of 5 flying days and 25 flights are required to complete a P2 rating.
